We commence the year by sharing the scholarly article titled "Free Textbooks: The Anchor or the Sail of the New Mexican School?" authored by our CSO, Antonio Villalpando-Acuña, and colleagues Gustavo Rojas and Ángel Leyva, published in the Korpus21 journal by El Colegio Mexiquense.
This exemplary piece of research on educational policy presents evidence that teachers hold less favorable perceptions of the New Mexican School (NEM) and the new free textbooks (LTG) compared to school principals in basic education institutions.
As part of their theoretical contribution, the authors propose a six-dimensional model through a system of structural equations that can be utilized to investigate educational agents' perceptions of educational reforms. This model robustly represents the concepts by which educational staff evaluate these reforms.
These dimensions include:
Promotion of fundamental learning
Theoretical and organizational model
Encouragement of life skills
Structure
Content quality
Relevance
