February 2020: The "Organization"

During discussions of the PhD in Public Policy at CIDE, Antonio Villalpando presented an idea that resonated like an unexpected vision: in his dreams, the idea of an organization that would advance social sciences in Mexico was revealed to him like a peregrine falcon. This organization had to build bridges between international quality research and the needs of ordinary people, something scarce in an ecosystem of consulting firms of "cronies," of revolving doors between public administration and business, as well as of low level of capacities in CSOs. Although his enthusiasm did not find an immediate echo among his colleagues, Antonio perceived this moment as a sign, as a revelation.

June 2022: first contracts

After two years of reflection and preparation, Antonio left the wait behind and decided to act. Operating as a physical person, he signed his first contracts with civil society organizations, convinced that every action, however small, could generate an impact. This initial step marked Vishnu's transition: from the act of creation to the responsibility of sustaining and operating what has been built. Thus, his effort ceased to be just a personal vision and became a commitment to practice.

February 2023: The false start

With accumulated experience and professional credibility, Antonio took up the idea of expanding his project. He started talks to bring in other researchers, recognizing that collective knowledge and solutions are stronger than any individual effort. Thus, Villalpando y Asociados was born, a side project that would serve as a preliminary meta-organization. That year, Antonio became a father in an uncertain environment, which paused the development of the project.

October 14, 2024: The birth of LISA

After gathering all the previous experience to redesign the concept, the creation of the Advanced Social Research Laboratory was formalized not only as a logical and necessary step, but as a demonstration of ingenuity, mastery and determination. A conceptual vision was transformed into a unique institution that works with the culture of precision to redefine the standard of scientific services in Mexico by combining innovation with rigor to generate the most advanced social research in the country.
